About Me

My first writing gig was for the (now defunct) Contra Costa Times. Drawing on my eight years of wisdom, I offered advice to other kids through their Kid to Kid column. After several months of work, I received a check for $50.

Flash forward a decade, and I found myself sitting in an English class at UC Berkeley. Though I’d planned on becoming a science major, I realized I was having the time of my life reading and writing about literature. I majored in English and went on to obtain my MFA in Fiction Writing at Vermont College of Fine Arts.

I made a cross-country move to Vermont and paid the bills for many years as a marketer, but yearned to pursue writing professionally. I found ways to work in content strategy, editing, and copywriting as part of my marketing manager duties. But the more I worked with freelance writers, the more I wanted to do what they did.

I started freelancing on the side and made the leap to full-time in August of 2020. I’m grateful for the long years it took to get there; I became a well-rounded strategist and project manager and gained an understanding of how to build prose around an organization’s business goals. I’ve also developed a deep passion for all things sustainability—from energy efficiency to global supply chains to soil science.

Now, I am beyond thrilled to be freelancing full-time. I am so inspired by the organizations and individuals using their hearts, brains, and sometimes hands (I’m looking at you, farmers) to make things better. I love collaborating with my clients to tease out the stories and formats most likely to resonate with their audiences and make an impact.

So, that’s me. What about you? Are you in need of a writer to help your organization achieve its goals? If so, drop me a line and we can discuss what you are looking for.
